Barnby Dun CC Ukrainian Humanitarian Appeal 2022
Barnby Dun Cricket Club hosted 2 days of Charity matches over the Bank Holiday weekend to raise funds for the DEC Ukraine Humanitarian Disaster Fund.
Sunday afternoon involved round-robin games of 3 teams - teams drawn out of the hat from available players in the club with a final play off for the Honda Trophy, kindly donated by Vertu Honda Doncaster.
Barnby Dun CC Junior Tournament
Monday Bank Holiday dawned with threatening cloud, but an enthusiastic bunch of junior cricketers at U9, U11 and U13 levels from Barnby Dun CC and Conisbrough CC played 2 matches with combined age groups, using softball and hardball rules, between the 2 clubs. The results, hardly mattered because the young cricketers, boys and girls, really enjoyed themselves playing with skill, enthusiasm and determination. A joy to behold!
Again, the 2 teams were supported enthusiastically by friends and family, with refreshments provided by Yamas Greek street food van and the back-room Barnby Dun staff in the clubhouse.
A great day for Barnby Dun CC! A win for both teams in great style on Saturday!
BDCC 2nd XI v Hensall - a win by 114 runs! Outstanding knocks of 74 from Alan Moore and 73 from Sam Connick, plus some great bowling and 4 wickets from Gavin McCarthy in the 2nd team.
Also great batting in the 1st team v Rothwell CC - a win by 65 runs: 123 from Ben Salter and 63 no from Lewis Mallinson ensured an unbeatable total and great bowling from Joseph Dixon with 4-44 off 9 overs sealed the win.
Our ladies played Stainborough Women's XI today - a very experienced and capable team but our team did us proud nevertheless, showing good ability with bat and ball and also great team spirit! Well done everyone!
