Barnby Dun Under9 XI Doncaster & District U9's league

Sunday April 26th Barnby Dun U9 v Bawtry U9

From our roving reporters Bill and Audrey

We set out with the Under 9s to play Bawtry Under 9s.

I didn't notice how many players were on each side but
I can say Audrey and I enjoyed every second of the
match plus all our other parents- we went to watch our
grandson play!

The game lasted 2 hours and two wet handkerchiefs!

We scored 290 odd and Bawtry scored 317 something! When we got home we had Sunday dinner and got the teas ready for Peter Fell and his Sunday league game with Brodsworth. After watching the Under 9s with all the fantastic fun ( I have never been so enthralled), I watched the juniors and it turned out to be a fantastic day with some great cricket! We scored 170 odd and Brodsworth scored 120 ish!

After a hard week's work with five officials from the Pontefract League committee checking out if we were up to scratch, I had the satisfaction of seeing what we are about- a great cricket club with a lot of young cricketers and some fantastic parents backing up the young ones.

I'm looking forward to the next game and another wet hanky!

Bill and Audrey.
